Timeline to Prepare to Student Teach

For all student teachers (those student teaching in Fall and Winter):
1. Attend the Student Teaching Intake Meeting in October to receive information about student teaching and student teaching application. NOTE: you must attend this meeting if you are student teaching in the Fall or Winter of the following school year.
2. Meet with your advisor to check courses, grades, Praxis test schedule and Characteristics of an Effective Teacher essay.
3. Complete student teaching application and submit by December deadline.

For Fall student teachers:
1. Your pre-student teaching interview will take place in March or April. Watch the Education website and your email for specific dates.
2. You should receive a confirmation of your student teaching placement in April. This will come in the U.S. mail.
3. Register for your student teaching courses. Be sure to register for both placements AND Current Issues in Education (EDUC 3650).
4. Attend a Student Teaching Sendoff Meeting in May. Watch the Education website and your email for specific dates.
5. Attend a meeting in August to meet your college supervisor. Watch the Education website and your email for specific dates.

For Winter Student Teachers:
1. Your pre-student teaching interview will take place in November. Watch the Education website and your email for specific dates.
2. You should receive a confirmation of your student teaching placement in November. This will come in the U.S. mail.
3. Register for your student teaching courses. Be sure to register for both placements AND Current Issues in Education (EDUC 3650).
4. Attend a Student Teaching Sendoff Meeting in December. You will meet your college supervisor at this meeting. Watch the Education website and your email for specific dates.
