Action Research
A key element of the program is the Action Research Project. This project involves the teacher as primary manager of classroom research - from the determination of the problem through follow up action planning. The Action Research sequence is as follows:
First Half of Fourth Term
Introduction to Action Research (EDUC665D) (2 credits)
Action Research Project (EDUC891D) (1 credit)
This is the first sequence of courses in the action research sequence. Elements of collaborative action research are identified and discussed. Writing a review of the literature, formulating a research question, and determining methods for collecting data are key activities.
First Half of Fifth Term
Integration Seminar (EDUC670D) ( 2 credits)
Action Research Project (EDUC892D) (1 credits)
Part of this course takes place on campus. This is the second sequence of courses in the action research sequence. Data collection techniques and strategies for analyzing and interpreting data are studied. Completing the action research project report and determining appropriate "actions" from the reseach are foci of this sequence. Learn more about the Intergration Seminar >>
There is a public presentation of the action research project that takes place in the final course Teachers as Educational Leaders. The presentation is given to a group of colleagues at a faculty meeting or other gathering. The presentation is given at a place of your choosing.
