AM2 Learning Experience

Dates for the 2009 on campus beginning weekend - Friday, July 24
through Sunday, July 26, 2009
.

(The beginning dates for the cohort to follow, Feb. 13 - 15, 2010. Schedule to be announced.)

PLEASE NOTE: The schedule below is tentative and subject to change, but the beginning and ending times won't change significantly.

While most learning in the AM2 program takes place online, the program begins with a one-weekend, face-to-face learning experience on the St. Catherine University campus in St. Paul, Minnesota.

In the on-campus learning experience, you’ll get to know the other Montessori teachers with whom you’ll be learning online during the following nine months. You’ll meet your instructors and get an introduction to the curriculum. You’ll get an orientation to St. Catherine University services and learn how to use the program’s Web-based instructional software.

Bring your Laptop
During the weekend experience, you and other students will get an introduction to the web-based learning that will take place in the following nine months. If you do not have a laptop, you may use a computer in one of the University's computer facilities. Please let us know if you need to borrow an Apple or a PC.

Lodging
AM2 students can stay in a university residence hall for one, two, or three nights. Lodging is available in Rauenhorst Hall, an air-conditioned facility built in 2007. Fees are $40 per night. Linens are included. Housing reservation information will be mailed to you after you apply to the program.

Meals
Meals are a part of the experience. We’ll offer a complimentary dinner on the night of Friday, July 24 to celebrate the beginning of your cohort. You may purchase lunches and breakfasts in our dining hall on Thursday and Friday ($5-8 per meal). The cafeteria is closed Saturday and Sunday. On the night of Saturday, July 25 dinner is "on your own." Enjoy a Saturday night on the town in St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Textbooks - Online Ordering
Textbooks are required for each course. To order textbooks online go to St. Kate's Online Bookstore. At this site, select the academic term (for example, Fall Semester 2009 or Winter Semester 2010) and the academic department (Education). You will be prompted to select your course by number. After doing so, the appropriate textbooks are displayed and you may make your purchase. Payment is by credit card.
