Application Process

Other Montessori Program applicants: follow the instructions below.

An applicant must submit:

  • A completed application form and a $35 non-refundable application fee made payable to St. Catherine University. This fee is waived for St. Catherine’s graduates, alumnae/i, applicants submitting an alumnae referral card, and applicants who have attended a St. Catherine’s graduate program information session.
  • Two official transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended.
  • Two letters of recommendation completed by individuals who can attest to the intellectual ability, professional competence and leadership ability of the applicant. Letters should include how long and in what connection the individuals have known the applicant.
  • A personal statement in essay format, indicating the applicant’s experience in working with children, her/his reason for applying to the Montessori program, and the personal talents/experiences she/ or he will bring to the program. Handwritten statements will not be accepted.
  • A copy of any Montessori credential already held.
In addition, an applicant to any of the Montessori programs whose native language is other than English is required to pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). This requirement is waived for applicants who have completed a baccalaureate college degree in the United States or other English speaking country.

Applicants with a college or university degree completed outside of the United States must submit an official evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluation service (such as World Education Services), as well as original transcripts and official translations for all documents not in English. All costs related to document translation and evaluation are the applicant's responsibility.
