Early Childhood Program

Program Options

  1. Montessori Associate Early Childhood Credential program
    (Undergraduate AMS credential only, no degree, no teaching license)
  2. Montessori Early Childhood Credential program
    (Graduate AMS credential only, no degree, no teaching license)
  3. MAED degree program with Montessori Early Childhood Credential
    (Graduate AMS credential, master’s degree, no teaching license)
  4. MAED degree program with Montessori Early Childhood Credential and Initial Minnesota State Licensure to teach Early Childhood
    (Graduate AMS credential, master’s degree and initial Minnesota licensure. This program is pending approval by Minnesota Board of Teaching)
Program Length
The Early Childhood credential options are one-year programs. The MAED option is a two-year program. The MAED with initial teaching licensure is a three-year program (pending approval by the Minnesota Board of Teaching). No correspondence courses are available.

Montessori Early Childhood Curriculum Options
  • Montessori Early Childhood Credential (ages 2.5 - 6) (22 credits);
  • Master of Arts in Education with Montessori Early Childhood Credential (32 credits);
  • Master of Arts in Education with Montessori Early Childhood Credential and Initial Licensure (53 credits plus prerequisites). This program is pending approval by Minnesota Board of Teaching.

The following courses must be taken for all three Early Childhood options. No additional courses are needed for the Early Childhood Credential only. The additional courses required for the other two Early Childhood options are listed after the core courses.
