Montessori Education

Mission

The mission of the Center for Contemporary Montessori Programs is to participate fully in the transformation of society through education as inspired by the philosophy of Maria Montessori. This mission includes the following objectives:
  • To prepare Montessori professionals to work with children and young people of all ages.

  • To educate a diverse group of skilled Montessori professionals able to assist in the natural process of empowering children's learning.

  • To work with parents, schools and paraprofessionals for the betterment of Montessori Programs.

  • To advocate for children and for Montessori programs.
We offer educational programs which prepare students to assume a variety of positions in Montessori schools, both public and private, day care centers, nursery schools, elementary schools and other educational settings.

It is our belief that persons holding such positions must demonstrate more than mastery of complex skills. They must also view themselves and the children and adults with whom they work holistically, as multi-faceted beings affected by a multitude of spiritual, physical, psychological and sociological influences.

The holistic perspective is built on a foundation of Montessori philosophy and tradition and is strengthened by the development of clear understanding of Montessori materials, procedures and techniques. Individuals educated in a holistic perspective recognize, assess, and work with people's strengths as well as their problems, and develop cooperative relationships between themselves and those with whom they interact. They share responsibility for their joint efforts to promote a higher level of personal development. The holistic teacher strives to be connected, compassionate and involved in transformational learning for body, mind and spirit.
