About the CATIE Center
We were awarded continued funding for the 2010-2015 grant cycle. This grant cycle we will pursue the following initiatives:
- Offering intensive training for novice and experienced interpreters and Deaf mentors
- Providing resources and education regarding healthcare interpreting
- Promoting the dissemination and implementation of the Deaf Self-Advocacy Training curriculum developed in the previous grant cycle
- Enhancing dissemination on information about interpreting for Deaf-Blind consumers
- Developing educational resources on video remote interpreting in Vocational Rehabilitation settings
- Serving as a comprehensive regional resource center on effective practices
We strive to
- Provide educational opportunities based on effective practices
- Serve as a resource center to the region on interpreting, interpreter education and self-advocacy by deaf consumers
- Collaborate with our partners to provide highly coordinated, cost-effective, non-duplicative programming
The following institutions were also awarded funding to serve as the other four regional centers: Northeastern University, Gallaudet University, the University of Northern Colorado–DO-IT Center, and Western Oregon University in partnership with El Camino College. The national project was awarded to Northeastern University. We congratulate all of our partners, and are excited to work with you.
