About Our Partners
The CATIE Center is one of six members of the National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers. We work closely with all of our partners in the consortium to promote best practices in interpreter education, provide resources that support best practices and provide educational opportunities to increase the capacity of sign language interpreters in the United States.
What is the NCIEC doing now?
- Establishing collaboration among centers that previously worked independently
- Developing a network of national and local partners
- Compiling the results of a comprehensive national needs assessment distributed through agencies such as RID, NAD, CIT, NAOBI, Mano a Mano, and others
- Identifying effective interpreter education practices
- Promoting effective practices through dissemination of resources and information
- Creating a national database of resources, products and materials related to sign language interpreting and interpreter education
- Developing new web-based materials for interpreters and interpreter educators,
- Promoting professional development opportunities that reflect significant scope and sequence in studies.
