CATIE Center
Leadership Summit
The Leadership Summit was held the weekend of April 4–5, 2008 on the College of St. Catherine St. Paul campus.
The CATIE Center, a member of the National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers, was funded by the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) to significantly increase the number of qualified interpreters available to interpret in vocational rehabilitation and other professional settings.
The Leadership Summit is one way we work toward increasing the number of qualified interpreters in each state in our region.
The summit provided identified leaders with an opportunity to meet and work with colleagues representing affiliate chapters of both NAOBI and RID. It identified helpful tools and strategies for improving leadership. The summit also faciliated discussion on how to identify future leaders in the interpreting field and support their growth.
Participants discussed leadership challenges, leadership models and possible ways to apply leadership models to the leadership challenges they face personally, and organizationally. This unique opportunity to work with other leaders from all aspects of the organizations involved was a positive experience, they reported.
This was also the historic first face-to-face meeting of all members of the NAOBI and RID national boards!
