National Interpreter Education Center
National Interpreter Education Center
The National Interpreter Education Center at Northeastern University serves as the primary point of coordination and collaboration for the National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers. In this role, the National Consortium will establish a national framework and direction for improving and expanding interpreter education opportunities across the country.
Specific charges for the NIEC include the conducting of a national needs assessment, and establishing linkages and partnerships among the five regions to better leverage existing resources, reduce duplication of effort, facilitate information sharing and improve overall quality and consistency of interpreter education services. The NIEC will also play a lead role in identifying and promoting effective practices across and within the five regions, and instituting methods to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of projects and activities funded under this effort.
