Plan now for a truly ‘stellar’ holiday program: “The Bethlehem Star” at the College of St. Catherine
St. Paul—“The Bethlehem Star,” a program that offers insights about the first Christmas, from the perspective of current astronomy, will be presented by Terry Flower, a physics professor at the College of St. Catherine who is also a practicing astronomer, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 12 at the Our Lady of Victory Chapel on the St. Paul campus of the College of St. Catherine.
Flower will discuss scripture passages that offer information, historical data and records of astronomical observations as a way to gain a better understanding of the nature of the Star of Bethlehem. Flower will review what the night sky was like during those ancient times and what the shepherds and wise men saw.
Flower served as Distinguished Visiting Professor at the U.S. Air Force Academy and is a NASA Solar System Ambassador. He also hosts a weekly cable access television program, “Astronomical Moments.”
This event is part of the Sage Scholars program, coordinated by the College of St. Catherine’s Department of Continuing Education. Cost of the event is $12 and it is open to the public. For advance registration, call 651-690-6819.
