Fall brings big names, unique performances to O'Shaughnessy, highlighted by Maya Angelou, Joan Baez appearances

A vibrant fall line up of performers has been scheduled for The O'Shaughnessy on the campus of the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul.

More information on each of these events will be forthcoming, but we wanted to send out a brief listing for those news outlets that require longer lead times for calendar items. Please feel free to pass this alert along to your colleagues who produce event calendars.

FALL SCHEDULE

*Mary Ellen Child's CRASH with Friends, offers new percussive music with movement and will feature a variety of guest appearances including Minnesota's own well-regarded vocalist Ruth MacKenzie, and is part of O'Shaughnessy's annual Women of Substance series, now in its fourth season. Three performances are set:

*Maya Angelou, world-renowned author and poet, will present a lecture as part of O'Shaughnessy's Women of Substance series. Angelou's appearance is also part of a series of events celebrating the creation of the College's Center of Excellence for Women, Economic Justice and Public Policy.

Tis the Season JAZZDANCE by Danny Buraszeski (Star Tribune's artist of the year), features Duke Ellington's Nutcracker Suite, a not-to-be-missed treat. The much-praised Eziekel's Wheel fills out the program.

"Women of Substance prides itself on the diversity and the star power of the series' performers as well as the recognition we pay to local heroes," says Patty Lynch, executive director of The O'Shaughnessy. "It is a series that is unique in the Twin Cities, and it appropriately links to the College of St. Catherine's commitment to women as leaders."
