College of St. Catherine announces new staff, personnel changes

St. Paul—Responding to the educational needs of both students and employers, and continuing its commitment to community outreach and student programs, the College of St. Catherine has several new faces on its two campuses this fall. In addition, a number of current staff members received promotions to new positions. Here’s a summary:

Professional Studies
Jeanne Bailey is the new associate dean for continuing education and new initiatives. Continuing Education is a critical element of the college’s strategic plan of responding to increasing demands from the business community for additional specialty training and educational offerings and to the needs of students for additional skill development and work enhancement. Bailey has extensive experience in training and programming and worked most recently as associate director of the Management Center in the Graduate School of Business at the University of St. Thomas.

Linda Distad, Ph.D., was named associate dean for education programs. Education has long been an area of strength for St. Catherine’s and even more outreach within the educational community is occurring through programs such as the teacher licensure program with the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis. Dr. Distad continues as an associate professor of education at the College as well. She also had served as chairperson of the Education Department for six years.

Institutional Advancement
Marjorie Mathison Hance has been appointed senior executive for Corporate Education Partnerships in the college’s Office of Development and External Relations. St. Catherine’s increased efforts in this area of corporate relations is still another example of how the college is reaching out beyond its gates and responding to community and student need.

A current St. Kate’s faculty member, Mathison Hance continues her role as the 3M Endowed Chair in marketing and management for the Business Administration Department, which includes overseeing the College’s Center for Sales Innovation. In fact, Mathison Hance was responsible for originally making the 3M connection that led to the corporation’s sponsorship of an endowed chair and its close involvement in the sales innovation center. She also manages the college’s Corporate Connections Task Force.

Student Affairs
The Office of Student Affairs is growing and providing more services than ever to a diverse student body. Accordingly, the office has added employees and promoted several staffers, including:
Promotions
Brian Bruess, dean of students, who was formerly, associate dean of students.

Pam Johnson, associate dean for enrollment, who previously served as associate dean and director of financial aid.

Curt Galloway, associate dean for student affairs and director of student life. Galloway formerly worked as director of student life.

Stacy Jacobson, director of residence life and assistant to vice president for student affairs for special projects, who had worked as associate director of student life.
New Employee

Harris will work to involve St. Kate’s students in a variety of community service- and social justice-related activities with a wide range of diverse groups.
