Community Work and Learning

America Reads

Are you ready to take the challenge?

The goal of America Reads is to mobilize all Americans to ensure that every child, especially those from low-income families and those with limited English proficiency, can read well and independently.

What is America Reads?

Through the America Reads program, college students help increase literacy for young Americans. The Center for Community Work and Learning employs approximately 50 students as America Reads tutors as well as 10 van drivers to get tutors to their sites.

Tutors commit to a consistent schedule of 4-10 hours per week at one or more of the sites listed below.

America Reads Sites

The Center for Community Work and learning works with seven schools and community sites in the Twin Cities through the America Reads Program, ranging from standard day programs, after-school, and evening programs.
