Major: International Relations
Community Leadership Program Position: Policy Intern, Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless

"In my major I focus on Middle Eastern studies and I love politics. My academic goal is to work for the government locally or nationally. I’m particularly interested in policy-making and implementing public policy that advocates for equality and justice. This is exactly why I wanted to work for the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless. The Coalition’s mission is to generate policies, community support, and local resources for housing and services to end homelessness in Minnesota. I get hands-on experience with policy-making by working with the director, Michael Dahl, and listening to Capitol hearings relating to homelessness policies. I’ve learned about how a bill gets authored, passed and legislated. I definitely will use what I’ve learned working with the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless because good public policy makes a difference."
