Joy Lim Nakrin joined 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS in November 2010 from FOX Connecticut, where she spent two years as a morning anchor, reporter and producer. While there, she covered several local stories that garnered national attention including the murder of a Yale University graduate student on campus and the case of a Connecticut resident convicted of trying to bomb Times Square.
Prior to FOX Connecticut, Joy was an anchor and reporter at ESPN STAR Sports, also known as "ESPN Asia." Stationed in Singapore, she was the main anchor for a morning sportscast called "Caltex Score Today," broadcast live to 24 countries around Asia.
Joy made the transition into media when she accepted a year-long contract to model around Asia. Her work on commercials opened the doors for her to host radio and television programs including MTV Asia's "Boiling Points" and hit Malaysian reality show "Love Perhaps."
Joy is a licensed attorney. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Duke University School of Law, and is a member of both the American Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar. She earned her B.A. in Philosophy from elite liberal arts school, Haverford College and spent her junior year as a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University. She has also worked for law firms in both the US and Japan.
Joy loves traveling, animals and the outdoors. She speaks two dialects of Chinese and is a former nationally ranked equestrian champion
