Burton J. McGlynn, chairman and founder of McGlynn Bakeries, has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 1993. In 1994 and again in 1996, he made two extraordinarily generous charitable gifts to the college, specifically for computer technology. Mr. McGlynn's pace-setting investments in technology launched St. Catherine's on an irreversible course toward excellence in educational technology. Advancements in technology made possible by Mr. McGlynn's generosity changed the way the St. Catherine's community teaches, learns and works, and encouraged other donors to invest in technology. The transformation in technology that Mr. McGlynn's leadership and generosity made possible is central to fulfillment of St. Catherine's vision: to become the world's pre-eminent Catholic college, educating women to lead and influence.
