Controlling E-Mail Message Size

Controlling the size of the messages you send will help the entire college community manage its e-mail resources.
  • If sending or attaching pictures, photos, or graphics, be sure they are formatted to be as small as possible. When saving the photo or graphic, adjust the resolution, dimensions and file format to minimize the file size.
  • Especially for shorter messages, write the text directly in the message body, instead of attaching a Word document.
  • Similarily, do not create a document in Word, then copy and paste the text into your e-mail message. Write your message directly in the message body.
  • If replying to a message containing an attachment, choose the "Reply without Attachment(s)" option. Unless you've made changes, the sender probably doesn't need the attachment back.
