Student Consultant Job Description
POSITION SCHEDULE:
Hours available from 8:00 am until 11:00 pm, (Monday - Saturday) and from 10:00 AM - 11:30 PM on Sunday. Hours are subject to change. Shifts end at mid-night during finals week. Average of 10 -15 hours per week, depending on availability.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Student Computer Consultants provide computer support to students, staff and faculty utilizing the Computing Services Public Labs, Reference Library Kiosk PC’s and Help Desk. Questions and problems are answered or referred to Help Desk staff for resolution.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent customer service skills, thorough computer skills and experience with standard computer applications including Windows XP & Windows 2000, Microsoft Office 2003, Lotus Notes, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Macintosh 9.x & 10.x operating systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staff public labs during scheduled hours, answer questions regarding desktop applications on the PC and Macintosh computers, staff Help Desk telephone and provide desktop support to callers, perform basic lab maintenance and repairs as needed, and special tasks and projects as assigned.
This is primarily a day shift position. Some evening shifts are reserved for returning Student Consultants.
