New Students - Information About Your Computer Account

NOTE: Computer Accounts at the college are changing. Predominantly affected are new students starting FALL 2007. As the date you should expect to get your college computer account is determined, information will be posted.

Accounts are currently created after you register for classes, but before classes start.

For Computer Account Information:

  • Go to the College of St. Catherine home page at www.stkate.edu
  • To access information about your computer account:
  • Click the link Current Students beneath Resources For: Select KateWay icon from this page. If you do not know your username/password, click on the ‘What is my username and password’ link on the ‘Getting started’ box on the left hand frame to view the username/password convention.
  • Enter your User Name and Password:
    • User Name = Your Lotus Notes name (the User Name you used to access this email is the same User Name you will use to access KateWay)
    • Password = Your six digit birth date in MMDDYY format (Example: April 9, 1985 is typed as 040985)
    • If birth date does not work, try your CSC ID #. Username Initials conflicts are usually resolved by combining first and last name example: michellesmith).

Usernames & Passwords:

Generally, your username is your first initial, middle initial and last name.
and your password is your CSC ID number, plus the last four digits of your social security number.

You will need to use your username & password to access:
  • computers connected to the college network,
  • your e-mail, or
  • any restricted college web pages, such as Online Courses and Syllabi or E-Reserves.

Web E-Mail Access:

You will access e-mail directly from the web using a program called iNotes.
  • From the College of St. Catherine home page, click on the Web E-Mail Access link from the Quick Links drop down menu or the Current Students section. Alternately, you can go directly to the McGlynn Computer and Technology Center web page at www.stkate.edu/mcglynn.
  • At the top of the page, click the button for WebMail.
  • Click the link for Students & Faculty/CSCMail2 to access your e-mail account.
  • When prompted, type in your username and password, as described above.
  • Your iNotes e-mail account should open. NOTE: You must use Internet Explorer 6.1 or higher with cookies, Java, JavaScript and ActiveX enabled.


New Blackboard 6.3 (all faculty and students):

Starting in September 2007 we have upgraded to Blackboard 6.3.

  • Blackboard login is the same as KateWay: Your username is first and middle initial and last name. Password is your birth date in MMDDYY format. Please change after you login.
