Aesthetic Theory and Modernism

November 28, 2006 - Congratulations to Dr. Cecilia Konchar Farr, Professor of English, who has been selected as the recipient of a $10,000 Carol Easley Denny Award for completion of a book manuscript on "Aesthetic Theory and Modernism." Dr. Farr will interrogate how we choose and evaluate books and the historical constructs and cultural factors that influence these decisions. Her work is grounded in reception theory and feminist literary criticism and framed within the contexts of the historical development of the novel and aesthetic theory. In short, Dr. Farr will address the questions, "What is a good book? What do we mean by "good" and why does the meaning change so dramatically from literary professionals to everyday readers?"
