February 14, 2005 - Cargill has awarded a grant of $270,000 to support programs that encourage more women, particularly women of color, to consider majors and careers in science and technology. Activities include creation of a database of high school teachers and counselors as well as community partners; Information Technology shadow days at Cargill for high school girls and St. Kate’s students; Scholarships for students majoring or minoring in Information Systems at St. Kate’s; a Business and Technology Careers Camp for 9th and 10th grade girls; an e-Mentoring program between Cargill employees and St. Kate’s students; and the creation of marketing materials to attract women to Information Systems programs at St. Kate’s. The Centers of Excellence will oversee the work of the grant while Dr. Andrea Olson performs the evaluation.
