| Q. | How do I start a new club or organization at St. Kate’s? |
| A. | Student organizations can be formed and recognized when the Dean of Students determines that the group’s purposes are in accord with the stated purposes and policies of the college. More information can be found at Starting a New Club or Organization. |
| Q. | How can I join an organization? |
| A. | The Activities Fair is a great way to meet all of the clubs and organizations on campus at once! You can also read more about all of the great involvement opportunities on campus by learning more about clubs and organizations. |
| Q. | What are the responsibilities of being an Advisor? |
| A. | Advisors are important and valuable resources for clubs and organizations. Advisors have several responsibilities that are outlined in the Club and Organization Advisor Agreement Form. |
| Q. | Does my organization have to register every year? |
| A. | Yes. Each spring clubs are asked to charter for the following academic year so that when your club returns to school in the fall, everything is ready for you! See the Annual Chartered Club/Organization Registration Form for more detailed information on how you can register your group for the next academic year. |
| Q. | Is my organization tax exempt? |
| A. | Yes*. Chartered clubs and organizations are tax-exempt. To obtain the Certificate of Exempt Status, contact the Assistant Director. |
| *Groups with a limited charter cannot use the College’s tax-exempt status. | |
| Q. | How do I reserve a space on campus? |
| A. | You can reserve space through Meeting & Events Services. The Pulse is reserved through the Student Center and Activities Office and all you need to do is complete and turn in a Pulse Reservation Form. |
| Q. | Can we have a fundraiser? |
| A. | Yes. Chartered clubs and organizations can have fundraisers. If your group is planning on asking for funds or donations of goods or services for your organization or for an external fundraiser, you can find more information by reading more about Fundraising here on our site or contact the Assistant Director. |
| Q. | How do I have an event on campus? |
| A. | The Student Center and Activities Office has great resources to help you plan your event. Please go to How to Have an Event to learn more. |
| Q. | What are the benefits of being a chartered club? |
| A. | There are several great reasons to be chartered! In addition to all of the great resources in the Student Organization Center and publicity materials through the Student Center and Activities Office, your club can have a spot at the Activities Fair, receive a discount at the College of St. Catherine Bookstore, a monetary Senate allocation each semester, obtain a charge account with Document Services and a copy code that enables your group to use the copier in the Student Organization Center, and an account with the Business Office with allows you to request checks, deposit funds, use college purchase order, receive monthly balances, and yearly carry over statements. |
| Q. | When does The Senate meet? |
| A. | The Senate meets every Tuesday over the free period. All students are encouraged to attend! |
| Q. | What’s in the Student Organization Center? |
| A. | There are so many great things in the Student Organization Center for your group! Storage lockers, your club mailbox, banner paper, printers, computers, a copier, tons of meeting and project space, a kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator, and so much more! |
| Q. | When is the next Club Leader’s Meeting? |
| A. | There is one Club Leader’s Meeting at the beginning of each semester. The next Club Leader’s Meeting is________________. In addition to the Club Leader’s Meeting, every other week club and organization members are invited to attend Snack n’ Yak, a brown bag that allows club members to collaborate, ask questions, and get to know each other. |
