Example:
A 2 credit course with a grade of "A" (4.0 points) would yield 8 points (2 credits x 4.0 points).
A 4 credit course with a grade of "B" (3.0 points) would yield 12 points.
Calculate the number of points for each course taken in a term and total them.
Divide this number by the total number of credits earned for that term.

In the sample transcript above, the student had a total of 41.33 points for the 12 credits she earned; therefore her session G.P.A. is equal to 3.44 (41.33 divided by 12).

This same student may want to see the effect on her G.P.A. if she earned a 4 credit "A" and a 2 credit "B" as her grades in the following term. The calculation would be as follows:

4 credit "A" 4 credit x 4.0 grade point = 16
2 credit "B" 2 credit x 3.0 grade point = 6
.
6 credits 22 points

Add the six credits to the cum quality credits (68) for a total of 74 quality credits.
Add the 22 points to the cum points (217.33) for a total of 239.33 points.
Divide points (239.33) by quality credits (74) for a projected cum gpa of 3.234.
