Parking Options Minneapolis Campus

On-street parking

To the east of the campus around Riverside Park and on the park side of the street, there is considerable on-street parking available. The residential side is restricted to one-hour parking except by permit. Permits are issued only to neighborhood residents.

There is some short-term (two-hour) metered parking available throughout the Fairview University Medical Center area. Please be aware that the city monitors the meters closely. Tickets are frequently given for expired meters. This can be an expensive parking option. Students are advised to use the meters as a last resort.

South of I-94, there is considerable unregulated on-street parking.

Those of you new to the campus should be aware that when the snow ban is posted, on-street parking is essentially eliminated for about a six-block radius around the campus. This lasts until April 1st.

Seward Towers
The College now leases a portion of the Seward Tower ramp and has 76 spaces available. This two level ramp is located west of the Riverside Perkins Restaurant, south of I-94. Contracts for this ramp are available through the Minneapolis campus security office.

Fairview University Parking Ramp
Evening students can contract Fairview University at 612-672-6629. They will have some evening contracts for students at approximately $16/month, billed quarterly.

Alternative Transportation
Students are encouraged to use alternative transportation to commute to campus. Options include biking, car-pooling, parking on the St. Paul campus and riding the free intercampus shuttle, and using public transportation.

Bike racks are located in the southwest corner of campus. Please lock all bikes. The college is not responsible for lost or stolen bicycles.

Students can advertise for a car-pooling partner in the Student Pulse student newsletter. Contact the Student Life Office, Room 359, 651-690-7830 to place a free ad. Students may also call MN Riverside at 349-RIDE.

The St. Catherine inter-campus shuttle runs Monday through Friday. Students can park on the St. Paul campus and ride the free shuttle to Minneapolis. The shuttle schedule is available in the display rack outside the Student Life Office (Room 359). To have a schedule mailed to you, call 651-690-7830. The shuttle schedule changes each semester.

Permits are required to park on the St. Paul campus. The cost is $40 per year. Permits may be purchased through Campus Security on either the St. Paul or Minneapolis campus. If you have a parking contract in one of the Fairview ramps, permits to park on the St. Paul campus will be $10. CSC parking permits are free to those who hold a State of MN handicap permit. If you need temporary handicap parking, contact the Security Office at 651-690-8888.

Please Note
Escort service is available to all students, faculty and staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A Security Officer will accompany you to your vehicle or bus stop. To request an escort, call Campus Security at 8888 from any on-campus phone. We strongly urge you to walk in groups of two or more as you leave CSC-M campus.

A Warning
Please be aware of and observe all posted parking restrictions. Violators are towed without warning. If your car is towed, you should contact either the Minneapolis Impound Lot or Cedar Towing, 721-6645.

Also, please observe all one-hour parking zones. It is to our advantage to not upset area residents who rely on parking space in front of their homes. There has been some discussion of placing meters on both sides of all area residential streets as a means of controlling this problem. Careful observation of one-hour limits will extend goodwill to the neighborhood and may forestall more restrictive measures.

Future Opportunities
We continue to problem-solve parking-related issues and will keep you informed of changes and/or new opportunities.
