Welcome to the Parent and Family Association. And, welcome, especially, to the 2008–09 school year. You are a vital part of your student’s experience here at St. Kate’s, as a regular visitor to campus, as a support to her academic career and personal goals, and as a caring parent or family member.

We’re excited about the four years that lie ahead for your student. She’s at a campus where she will be challenged academically, supported in building a social life and finding meaningful activities, and encouraged to be a contributing member not only of our St. Kate’s community but the broader world.

With the election coming up, we want to encourage your daughters to engage in the political process: register to vote, participate in campus discussions or debates and think through the big decisions that face our nation. This will be the first presidential election in which most of our students are eligible to vote. We take that seriously at St. Kate’s — a community that is safe and nurturing, and yet a place that strives to be of the world, to enlarge our students’ thinking and perspective.

This coming year holds many changes for your student and family. As St. Catherine’s moves to become a university on June 1, 2009, know that we are committed to being “still St. Kate’s,” a place where caring for and about our students is our foremost goal.

Our doors are always open. We urge you to get involved in our Parent and Family Association. Please stay in touch!
