Janet Benz is a full-time faculty member with the RN-BS completion teaching team, specializing in public health nursing. She earned her baccalaureate degree in nursing from Viterbo College in La Crosse, WI and a masters of arts in nursing from the Transcultural Nursing program at Augsburg College where she is also completing a doctorate in nursing practice. She also received her certification in faith community nursing from Concordia College in 2001.
Janet has 26 years of clinical experience in home care, hospice and palliative care. She has served as an adjunct faculty in the RN-BS completion at St. Catherine University and at Augsburg College and has been employed by the Joint Commission since 2009 where she continues to practice as a nurse surveyor.
Primary areas of interest and research include: community engagement in the prevention of suicide, partnerships for expanding transcultural nursing in the
U.S. A. and abroad, and enhancing opportunities for students to integrate an expanding awareness of the universe in evidence based nursing practice.
