Val is med/peds faculty in the BDP program and teaches in N3500 and N4000. She began as adjunct faculty in 2009 and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2010.
Her education includes a Master’s in Human Resource Development (Training) from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s in Nursing (Clinical Nurse Specialist) from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. She is board certified as an Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist and is a certified Asthma Educator.
Her background is in Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine and Allergy/Asthma. She is casually employed in Ambulatory Care. Val has taught coursework for pre-hospital providers, Emergency Medicine and Critical Care for 15 years and continues to teach health care professionals.
Val is active in the American Lung Association’s Metro Asthma Coalition (MAC), Sigma Theta Tau (nursing honor society), University of Minnesota Alumni Association and holds a leadership role in her homeowner’s association.
Her clinical interests include: Emergency Medicine/Trauma, Children with Special Health Care Needs, Asthma and Women with undiagnosed or undertreated COPD.
