Curriculum Vitae »
Nursing has been part of my life since before I was born, as my parents met in nursing school. I graduated from South Dakota State University with a BS in nursing in 1984. I pursued an MBA because I wanted to be involved in the administration part of nursing and to understand the financial aspects of health care. I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1990. However, I could never really leave patient care. I fulfilled a life long dream when I received my Master’s in Nursing from St. Catherine University in 2012.
My nursing practice has been focused on both sides of the demographic spectrum: pediatrics and geriatrics. I have worked in acute care, long-term care, home care, and community based programs and have enjoyed the challenges and rewards of all these health care settings. But my favorite aspect of nursing has always been teaching and I have a special interest in promoting positive health care practices and disease prevention.
As part of my graduate work here at St Kate’s, I have created, and am currently working to implement, a new medication-timing device at a local hospital where I remain on staff. This is one example of my commitment to health promotion and teaching. I am eager to work with students at St Kate’s as they begin their nursing jouneys.
