Jyothi Gupta

Dr. Jyothi Gupta received her doctorate in Biological Sciences from the University of Windsor, Canada, and a degree in Occupational Therapy, from McMaster University, Canada.

She joined St. Catherine University in January 2000 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (OSOT). In January 2004, she joined the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and is currently a ranked full professor. Her primary teaching areas are neuroscience, psychosocial rehabilitation, and service learning in the DPT Program.  She also teaches Community and Justice course in OSOT.

Her research interests are identifying (1) environmental barriers to full participation of marginalized groups and (2) contextually-relevant adaptive strategies to maximize participation. The common themes in her research are the influence of occupational participation on health and well being of diverse groups and social justice issues that impact participation.

She served as the Chair for the American Occupational Therapy Association's Commission on Education, 2010-2013; President of the Asian American and Pacific Occupational Therapists of America; AOTA's Multicultural Divsersity Initiave Lead Team Member;and  serves on the Editorial Review Board for Work: A Journal for Prevention, Evaluation and Rehabilitation and Open Journal of Occupational Therapy & Reviewer for the Open Access Journal of Occupational Therapy.
