Kate earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (BSOT) degree from Creighton University in 1995. She returned to Creighton to earn her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree in 2000, with a special focus on cross-cultural program development.
Kate has worked in a number of pediatric and community sites, both in the United States and internationally. These sites have included hospitals, community clinics, and school systems where Kate coordinated programs, managed personnel, and provided clinical training to a variety of students. Kate has been involved in academic teaching in occupational therapy programs at Creighton University (20001-2006) and St. Catherine University (2006-present).
Primary areas of professional interest for Kate include social justice issues and increasing cross-cultural educational opportunities for occupational therapy and other allied health students. She has traveled frequently to Ecuador, Peru, Haiti, Cuba and the Dominican Republic with numerous students to encourage cultural awareness and service.
