Natasha Yates earned her B.A. at Beloit College then spent the summer conducting primate behavioral research in Panama. She soon began her teaching career in Botswana, Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer teaching high school biology at a boarding school in a copper mining town. She later moved to the Kalahari Desert to set up a new school and teach middle school general science. Upon returning to the United States she spent a summer conducting biochemical research at 3M in St. Paul before moving to Manhattan to attend graduate school at Columbia University Teachers College. After completing her M.A. in science education she spent seven years teaching at the United Nations International School as a 5th grade teacher and a middle school science teacher. She later moved to Minnesota to teach middle school science in public school. She later worked with K-2nd graders helping them in math and language arts. She spent one year teaching at MN Southeast Technical College before joining the faculty at St. Catherine University in 2010.
