Suellen earned her baccalaureate in nursing from the College of St. Catherine in 1976. In 1980 she completed her master’s in Nursing Sciences from the University of Illinois, and in 1995 she completed her PhD in Nursing Sciences from the University of Minnesota. Suellen is a Certified Nursing Educator.
Suellen has clinical experience in the area of adult medical surgical nursing, rehabilitation nursing and critical care nursing, with a special interest in care of persons with neurological problems. She started teaching at St. Kate’s in 1983 was promoted to an associate professor in 1995 and a tenured professor in 2005. She has taught in the associate, baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs and is currently the Associate Degree Program Director. Suellen is the current Nursing Moore Fellow.
Primary areas of interest and research for Suellen are: exploring new clinical education models, programs of study, and ways to better create learning spaces for our current students, and create a vibrant faculty mentoring program to facilitate achievement of student learning outcomes. She has a personal interest in welcoming all into our St. Kate’s community and learning more about our world through reading and traveling. Her most enjoyable pastime is hanging out with her family.
