Student News/Webletter
In the Fall of 2002, the Center of Excellence for Women, Science and Technology started a campus news- and webletter, reported and edited by students. This news- and webletter is a communication that provides details about science and technology events on campus demonstrating that St. Kate’s is a place for women, science and technology.
Students benefit from this project in the following ways:
- They learn more about campus activities sponsored by the Centers of Excellence involving women, science, and technology.
- They gain journalism experience by writing articles that communicate the exciting things happening on campus in science and technology.
- They practice editorial duties by designing the newsletter and webletter page layout and by editing articles for content and space.
- They conduct interviews and give feedback to the applicants on their application and interview.
- In the Winter semester, they train other students to be their successors in the following year.
- They work closely with faculty advisors to create a publication that serves a purpose for a larger organization.
