Graduate Credit Associated with the Conference and Research Agenda
Two-Credit Option—Why the Difference? Conference
Teachers attending Why the Difference? Conference are eligible to earn two graduate credits for participating in the two-day conference at the College of St. Catherine on Tuesday, June 27 and Wednesday, June 28, 2006 and completing an additional 10-page research paper relating best practices literature, the conference discussions, and classroom experience, prepared according to APA standards for publication. Mastery of course content will be based on the quality of the research paper. The supervising faculty member will be Susan Goetz, Program Director of the MAED, Curriculum and Instruction. Available summer session II, July 5 - August 8, 2006.

Additional credit options in 2006-07, based on the prerequisite of attending the Why the Difference? conference:
Two-Credit Option—Participation in the Development of the Research Agenda
Teachers attending Why the Difference? are eligible to earn two graduate credits for participating in four post-conference discussions with CSC faculty and visiting professors on a research agenda for best practices. These day-long discussions will take place on Thursday, June 29th and dates to be determined in fall, 2006, and winter and spring, 2007. Additionally students will write a paper developing part of the research agenda, prepared according to APA standards for publication. Mastery of course content will be based on quality of participation in the discussions and quality of the research paper. The supervising faculty member will be Susan Goetz, Program Director of the MAED, Curriculum and Instruction.

Two-Credit Option— Action Research and Research Paper
Teachers attending Why the Difference? are eligible to earn two graduate credits for carrying out action research in the classroom related to a best practice and reporting their results in a research paper, prepared according to APA standards for publication. The supervising faculty member will be Susan Goetz, Program Director of the MAED, Curriculum and Instruction.

Cost
The cost of a two-credit option is $372.00.
Term
The credit will be associated with the term in which the independent study is completed.
