Job Description: Student workshop leaders for Business and Technology Careers Camp 2007. Student workshop leaders will lead camp workshops to assist high school student participants project of creating an online shopping mall. Student role models will facilitate all activities, monitor behavior and ensure the safety of all campers. Description of camp also available online.

Start/End Date: Required one week training in June on campus, must be available the week of the camp from Sunday, July 14 through Friday, July 20.

Shifts Available:
Assistants (40 hours) and Leaders (100 hours).

Hours per week: Students must be available 24 hours a day from Sunday, July 14-Friday, July 20 and for one week 40 hour training.

This is a hands-on, interactive camp designed to help high school girls see how business and technology skills are combined in a variety of high profile careers. Participants will explore different careers while building an on-line shopping mall with other high school girls from around Minnesota. They will discover how it feels to be “at college” by taking classes and staying overnight on campus for one week. Also, college professors, current college students and outside speakers provide a unique learning and mentoring experience.

Duties:
The Student workshop leaders will perform the following duties, according to specific assignments:

1. LEAD WORKSHOPS. Work with other student workshop leaders to lead workshops with high school girls that will enable them to build an online shopping mall.

2. FACILITATE PARTICIPANTS. Maintain communication with participants, help to maintain a safe environment and that the students are following camp rules. Chaperone students on any trips off campus grounds and field trips.

3. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT. Assist in managing day-to-day components of the camp, schedule, workshops, student projects and any other logistical needs that need attention.

4. OTHER administrative work as determined by the Coordinators.


Qualifications.
Minimum: Candidates must be enrolled St. Kate's students who have excellent and professional communications and presentation skills, superb organizational skills and administrative experience within St. Catherine's or another employer. St. Kate's students must have some knowledge of project management and team building. Students must also have some experience with technology, building Web pages and graphic design. Students must also have some knowledge of Business and Technology careers. Preferred qualifications: experience working with teenagers and peers, hands on experience with Web page coding (HTML), Java script, PowerPoint, Microsoft word and working with graphics.

Pay Rate: A stipend of $1,600 will be provided for student workshop leaders for the week of the camp and a one-week training prior to the camp. There are 3-6 positions available. Assistant stipend will be $700 .
