War on Poverty - Feb 15

Searching for America’s Heart, The War on Poverty Call to Action, Tuesday, Feb. 15, 6:45–8:45 p.m., Rauenhorst Hall, Coeur de Catherine
. It is free and open to the public. There will be a short dance performance at 6:45, followed by a panel discussion and question and answer time.
This Town Hall Meeting features a panel discussion with people who have firsthand experience of living in poverty or of advocating for those who live in poverty. You will also learn about the Community Blueprint to End Poverty and how you can play a part in changing the current situation.
Speakers for the Town Hall Meeting include Vic Rosenthal from Jewish Community Action, Lupe Serrano from Casa de Esperanza, Mary Alvarez, a St. Catherine's Education major, Robert Butler, a Community Actions Board of Directors member, and Ed Flahvan, founder and former director of the Archdiocesan Urban Affairs Office. Moderated by Ken Stone of the University of Minnesota School of Journalism.

In preparation for the Town Hall Meeting we are reading The Working Poor: Invisible in America by Pulitzer Prize winning author David Shipler. All are welcome to attend this free discussion. Refreshments will be served.
