Lucy has her Associate of Applied Science degree from St. Mary's Junior College, Minnesota. She has practiced as an occupational therapy assistant since 1974. Lucy has worked in Minnesota, Texas and Louisiana in the areas of long term care, mental health, and adult physical rehabilitation.
As a faculty member at St. Catherine University since 1990, Lucy collaborates in the teaching of the first year foundation Human Occupation courses. In addition she teaches in the Client Support Skills, Clinical Conditions, and Aging courses. Encouraging and practicing life-long learning, Lucy has coordinated serveral continuing education events for occupational therapy practitioners during her tenure. Other areas of professional interest include health and wellness promotion, cultural competence in health care, and work with adults with Asperger's Syndrome.
For the past 5 years Lucy has served as the Multicultural and International Representative to the Minnesota Occupational Therapy Association. She has also served as a past editor of the MOTA newsletter.
